Accommodation - Rapa Nui
Luxury bungalows, Club house, lounge, all in a farm! Lemu Lodge Vaihu is the only Safari Camp style lodge in Easter Island. It is lead by Mr. Heu Rapu, a well known Rapa Nui entrepreneur, who decided to develop an eco-lodge in his farm, incorporating the agrotourism to his traditional activities, following the Lemu Lodge model.
Lemu Lodge Vaihu is located on the Southern coast of the island, 8 km from the town of Hanga Roa. We have 4 bungalows, each of them 40 m2 plus a 20 m2 terrace. They all include a king size bed and an additional sofa bed (bungalows can accommodate 2 adults plus 2 kids). Additionally, we count with 2 semi-independent suites with a beautiful sea view (the suites are thought for one to two persons). The bungalows also have a sitting area and an outdoor shower open to the nature. The structure of our rooms is unique in design and construction style, designed to provide a high standard of comfort and sophistication without losing the connection with the nature. Each room has a Rapa Nui name with a meaning that is important for the main host, Mr. Heu Rapu.
Our Club House (traditionally called ‘Hare’), is a cozy common space with a lounge area and restaurant and bar service, where the delicious breakfast is served. There is also an area for campfires where you can enjoy a tasty drink under the incredible Rapa Nui night sky or experience the traditional way of cooking umu pae, Rapa Nui “curanto”-style, local ingredients cooked in a hole under stones. After a long day of exploring the island you can also take a relaxing massage or a private yoga class and recover from the day’s activities.
Lemu Lodge Vaihu is ranked among the top 10 hotels in Rapa Nui according to TripAdvisor and Booking.com. In 2018, Lemu Lodge was also chosen by Bookmundi, a global travel booking portal, based in Denmark, as one of the top 5 hotels in Easter Island.
In 2017, Lemu Lodge Vaihu hosted a group of Céline Cousteau Film Fellowship for their 6 week documentary film expedition. The project was focused on our main host, Heu Rapu, seeking to find his peace and understanding on how to preserve the cultural, environmental and ancestral traditions of Rapa Nui while embracing the encroaching globalized world and the harmful effects that can so often come with tourism growth (Céline Cousteau Film Fellowship, 2018).
